What is AC-DC

In electronic components, AC-DC indicates the type of electrical signal, and refers to a component or device that converts an alternating current (AC) electrical signal into a direct current (DC) electrical signal.

In electronic components, AC-DC converters are mainly used in power supplies.

In general, home appliances or electronic devices used in homes or offices use AC power, but DC power is required to charge internal electronic parts or batteries.

At this time, an AC-DC converter is used to convert AC power to DC power.

AC-DC converters also perform functions such as filtering and voltage control to supply current stably.

Other uses include LED lighting, motor control, and battery charging.

In addition, AC-DC converters are divided into Switching Power Supply and Linear Power Supply.

Switching power supplies have the advantages of high conversion efficiency and small size, but they can generate electromagnetic noise and have a complicated design.

On the other hand, Linear Power Supply has low electromagnetic noise due to its simple design, but has disadvantages such as low conversion efficiency and large size.

Therefore, in electronic components, AC-DC refers to a type of electrical signal, and refers to a component or device used to convert AC power to DC power.
