What is CLAMP

Clamp in electronic components means a device used to limit or stabilize voltage or current. Clamps prevent overvoltage or overcurrent in electronic circuits and protect devices or circuits.

Clamps are usually implemented using diodes.

A diode has a bi-directional current path, and when operating in the forward direction, the voltage passes within the allowable range, and when operating in the reverse direction, it protects the voltage by limiting it.

This prevents situations where overvoltage or overcurrent can damage other parts of the circuit.

Clamps can be used for a variety of purposes.

One of the most common uses is voltage overcurrent protection.

When the voltage or current exceeds a certain threshold, the clamp operates to keep the circuit within a safe range.

This prevents components or circuits from being damaged or failing.

Clamps are also used in signal processing circuits.

For example, a clamping diode can be used to limit the peak value of a signal and keep it at a desired voltage level.

In summary, Clamp in electronic components means a device used to limit or stabilize voltage or current.

Clamps use diodes to prevent overvoltage or overcurrent, and to protect devices or circuits.

Clamps can be used in voltage overcurrent protection and signal processing circuits.
