What is DIRECTIONAL


In electronic parts, 'Directional' means to have directionality. If an electronic component or device has directionality, it can transmit or process signals in a specific direction. This is one of the properties that has a significant impact on the design and operation of electronic devices.

Examples and meanings of directional electronic components are as follows:

Directional Antenna: As an antenna used in wireless communication, it has the function of intensively transmitting and receiving signals in a specific direction. This is useful for communication over longer distances or to minimize interference.

Directional Coupler: A device used in microwave or radio frequency (RF) circuits, used to pass or distribute signals in only one direction. Signals in the other direction are blocked.

Directional Microphone: A microphone that minimizes ambient noise and emphasizes voices in a specific direction. It is useful for intensively collecting desired sounds when used at meetings or performances.

Directional Sensor: A sensor designed to respond only in a specific direction, which can be used to detect changes in the surrounding environment or determine location.

Oriented electronics are used to implement specific functions or improve performance. Designing electronic devices with directionality in mind helps provide desired functions and performance.
