What is DISPLAYPORT


In electronics, 'DisplayPort' is a digital interface standard used to transmit video and audio signals. DisplayPort is used to connect high-definition video and audio signals between display devices, such as computers, monitors, TVs, and projectors, and source devices, such as graphics cards, laptops, and desktops.

DisplayPort provides high transmission bandwidth to support high resolution and high refresh rate video, and transmits data as a digital signal to provide excellent picture quality. DisplayPort offers both electrical and optical connection options, with DisplayPort being an electrical connection and DisplayPort Fiber being an optical connection. DisplayPort is particularly popular for connecting video and audio between PCs and display devices, and is supported by most modern graphics cards and display devices.

Advantages of DisplayPort include:

High resolution and high refresh rate support: DisplayPort supports high resolution video such as 4K and 8K and high refresh rate video such as 144Hz and 240Hz, making it suitable for high-definition gaming and video playback.

Multi-screen connectivity: DisplayPort provides multi-screen capabilities that allow multiple displays to be connected to a single source.

Audio transmission: DisplayPort transmits audio signals as well as video signals, allowing video and audio to be transmitted together in one cable.

Great performance: DisplayPort has a high bandwidth, providing high performance and stable connections.

DisplayPort is one of the display interface standards competing with HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface), and is selected and used according to each feature and purpose. DisplayPort is primarily used between PCs and computer-based devices, but some monitors and TVs also support DisplayPort input.
