What is DOUBLER


In electronic components, 'Doubler' refers to a circuit or component that has a function of doubling the voltage. Doublers are primarily used in power supplies or applications requiring variable voltage amplification.

A doubler circuit is responsible for doubling the voltage in a specific way relative to the input voltage. These circuits operate using current devices and voltage transformers, and are based on various structures and principles. Doubler circuits are also called Rectrans or Voltage Multipliers, and there are several main types:

Rotating rectifier Doubler: Doubles the voltage using controlled inverted rectifier technology. Mainly used in generators.

Kappa Doubler: Doubles the voltage using Kappa control technology. It is primarily based on semiconductor devices and is used for high voltage applications.

Voltage multiplier Doubler: A function that doubles the voltage using a diode and capacitor. Depending on the frequency, it can consist of several stages and is used to generate high voltage signals.

Doublers are useful when power supply designs require efficient voltage amplification. In particular, voltage amplifiers are used in a variety of applications including radar, radio communications, vacuum tubes, semiconductor devices, and power converters.
