What is DRAM

In electronic components, 'DRAM' stands for Dynamic Random-Access Memory, a technical term for dynamic random-access memory. DRAM is mainly used as the main memory for computers and mobile devices, and is used to temporarily store and process data.

DRAM is a semiconductor memory device that stores data bit by bit, and is mainly composed of memory chips. These are commonly known as the computer's RAM (Random Access Memory) and use random access methods to access data. That is, data can be quickly accessed from any location, rather than read and written in any particular order or location.

DRAM dynamically stores data. This means that it must be updated periodically to retain information. This renewal process introduces additional time delays when reading or writing data, but DRAM is relatively inexpensive, can have high capacities, and provides fast random access rates.

DRAM is mainly used in RAM in computers, graphics cards, memory in mobile devices, servers and other digital devices. However, because DRAM needs to be periodically refreshed to retain information, it must be powered off or recharged at regular intervals to refresh. This renewal cycle can cause data loss, so stored data will be erased when the computer is turned off. Therefore, you should save important data before shutting down your computer.
