What is DSP


In electronic components, 'DSP' stands for Digital Signal Processor, a term used to refer to a digital signal processor. A DSP is a microprocessor specialized in digital signal processing, and is mainly used to process various signals such as voice, music, video, communication, and sensor data.

A DSP converts analog signals into digital form and processes digital signals to perform various signal processing tasks such as filtering, compression, analysis, and modulation. This enables more accurate and flexible signal processing and plays an important role in various fields such as audio and video applications, communication systems, and sensor networks.

DSPs have highly optimized hardware and dedicated instruction sets to efficiently perform signal processing tasks. Additionally, DSPs are capable of real-time signal processing, making them ideal for real-time applications. Because of these characteristics, DSPs are used in a variety of devices and systems, such as sound systems, digital cameras, smartphones, communication equipment, and automotive control systems.

DSP plays a key role in the field of digital signal processing and contributes to improving the accuracy and efficiency of signal processing. Therefore, DSP is recognized as an important component of modern electronic component technology, and research and development for more advanced digital signal processing are continuously being conducted.
