What is EXTERNAL

In electronics, “EXTERNAL” usually means operating or connected outside an internal system or device. This term can be used in many different contexts, most commonly in the following situations:

EXTERNAL DEVICE: Refers to a device that works externally while connected to a computer or electronic device. For example, external hard disks connected to the computer, printers, scanners, mice, keyboards, etc.

EXTERNAL CONNECTION: A connection between an electronic component or system and an external device or other system. It can be used for data transmission, power supply, signal transmission and reception, etc.

EXTERNAL SIGNAL (external signal): Refers to a signal generated from the outside that affects an electronic component or device. This usually refers to a case affected by the surrounding environment or a signal generated by an external device.

EXTERNAL POWER: Power provided externally to operate electronic components or systems. Some devices use an external power source instead of a built-in battery or power supply.

EXTERNAL MODULE: Refers to an independent module connected externally to provide additional functions to an electronic component or system. This allows additional functionality or features to be added.

The term EXTERNAL is used to emphasize the scalability and connectivity of a part or system, and is used to differentiate it from internally operating parts.
