What is FLUX

“Flux” is a term for a substance or chemical that plays an important role in the electronic component manufacturing and soldering process. Flux is used in soldering operations to attach and connect lead to components and electronic circuit boards and has several important purposes. Below are the main uses and features of Flux:

Anti-oxidation and cleaning: Flux cleans the surfaces of components and circuit boards when soldering and prevents oxidation. Flux keeps the surface clean, especially since the formation of an oxide layer on the metal surface can make soldering difficult.

Lead Distribution: Flux helps distribute lead evenly across component and circuit board surfaces. This improves the strength and reliability of the soldered connection.

Solder Flow Control: Flux helps ensure that solder flows accurately between components and circuit boards. This ensures that soldering is done neatly and that a proper connection is made.

Solder flow control: Flux is responsible for controlling the flow of lead when it flows from the solder (solder pen).

Flux comes in many different forms, most of which depend on their chemical properties and intended use. Flux typically exists in liquid, plate or pen form and is applied wherever needed in the electronic component manufacturing and soldering process. Using the right flux will make the soldering process for electronic components efficient and ensure high quality connections.
