What is MODE

Mode is a term that has many uses in electronic components.

Different modes exist depending on how the electronic component works.

For example, here is a description of the modes of some electronic components.

Modes of a Bipolar Junction Transistor (BJT): BJTs generally operate in three modes: active mode, saturation mode, and blocking mode.

In aggressive mode, a voltage is applied across the base-collector combination and current flows, while in saturation mode, a near-maximum voltage is applied across the base-collector combination, resulting in maximum current.

In shutdown mode, very little voltage is applied across the primary-collector coupling, so no current flows.

Modes of a Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistor (MOSFET): MOSFETs typically operate in three modes: channel decay mode, saturation mode, and shutoff mode.

In channel decay mode, the gate voltage is used to attenuate the channel voltage, and in saturation mode, the gate voltage sufficiently expands the channel to allow current to flow.

In blocking mode, the gate voltage prevents any current from flowing through the channel.

Modes of Light-Emitting Diodes (LEDs): LEDs normally operate in an aggressive mode, emitting light when a voltage is applied.

In electronic components, mode is one of the important terms to describe how that component works.
