What is PWM

PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) is one of the digital signal processing methods used in the field of electronic components.

PWM is a method of imitating an analog signal using a digital signal. It is a method of adjusting the maximum and minimum values while maintaining a constant frequency and outputting them.

A PWM signal expresses an analog signal using a ratio called duty cycle among digital signals, and duty cycle means the ratio of time when high and low states appear alternately.

PWM is used in power conversion circuits, motor control, LED dimming, and many other applications.

For example, in motor control, PWM is used to control the speed and direction of a motor.

By using PWM, the voltage applied to the motor can be turned on/off at regular intervals to control the rotation speed of the motor.

PWM is also widely used in LED lighting. By controlling the amount of voltage applied to the LED using PWM, the brightness of the LED can be adjusted.

Therefore, electronic component PWM is one of the methods of imitating an analog signal using a digital signal, and is a technology used in various fields such as power conversion circuits, motor control, and LED dimming.
