What is SINGLE-ENDED


In electronic components, Single-Ended means a method of transmitting a signal using only one signal line.

Single-Ended signals generally consist of one signal line and one ground line, and data is transmitted by changing the voltage of the signal line.

The Single-Ended method is simple and can be implemented at low cost, and is used in many electronic devices.

However, signal distortion may occur when the signal is long or in a noisy environment.

Also, the single-ended method is sensitive to noise because the amplitude is small and the voltage is low.

Contrary to this, the differential method uses two signal lines to transmit data.

The Differential method is more resistant to noise than the Single-Ended method, and the signal distortion is less even at a longer distance.

Differential method provides higher performance than Single-Ended method because it uses high amplitude and voltage.
