What is SURGE


In electronic parts, SURGE is a term that indicates a sudden voltage rise that occurs in power circuits or wires.

These surges can damage electronic components, and surge protectors are required to protect power circuits or wires.

SURGE protector detects when the voltage rises rapidly and cuts the circuit or stabilizes the voltage.

These protectors are typically implemented using technologies such as diodes, variable resistors (VARISTOR), and gas discharge tubes (GDTs).

SURGE can occur from lightning or power circuit switching, and damage to electronic components in such circumstances can cause system operation to stop or failure.

Therefore, surge protectors play a very important role for the stable operation of electronic components.
