What is TRANSFORMER

A transformer is an electrical component that is used to transfer electrical energy from one circuit to another by means of electromagnetic induction.

It is designed to change the voltage level of an AC electrical signal while maintaining the same frequency.

Transformers consist of two coils of wire, known as the primary and secondary coils, that are wound around a core made of a magnetic material, such as iron.

When an AC voltage is applied to the primary coil, it induces a magnetic field that passes through the core and induces a voltage in the secondary coil.

The voltage in the secondary coil can be either higher or lower than the voltage in the primary coil, depending on the number of turns in each coil.

Transformers are used in many different applications, including power distribution, power conditioning, and audio amplification. They are commonly found in power supplies, inverters, and transformers for AC power distribution.

Transformers are highly efficient, and the electrical energy is transferred from the primary to the secondary coil with very little loss. This makes them an essential component in many electronic and electrical systems, as they allow for the efficient transfer of electrical energy between different parts of a system.
